GOP Awards Chuck Schumer Coveted U.S. Senate Participation Trophy

Chuck Schumer (D-NY) received the prestigious U.S. Senate Participation Trophy from Senate Republicans for his efforts in helping the GOP avoid accountability for the government shutdown and their disastrous political policies.

“The genius of Chuck’s involvement,” explained Senator John Thune (R-SD), “was convincing Americans that he was against the shutdown all while working in secret behind closed doors with us to coordinate the support of eight other Senators—including seven Democrats—to reopen the U.S. government. Let’s face it,” the Senate Majority Leader continued, “Republicans were in a death spiral until Chuck saved us.”

As Americans grew increasingly outraged at President Trump’s policies and the Republican Party’s hateful agenda to destroy the government, public sentiment was approaching a level of fury that was poised to forever tarnish the Republican brand and perhaps obliterate its chances from ever holding power in the U.S. government for decades. Then Chuck Schumer and Democratic Senators stepped in.

“The key to our success was orchestrating the messaging with the timing,” Schumer explained. “I had to convince Democrats across America that I was against reopening the government while simultaneously working with Republicans and our carefully selected Democratic Senators to secure the needed votes on a Sunday night when we knew Americans wouldn’t be paying attention. I’m especially proud of those seven Democratic senators who flipped to help save the Republican party from ruin. They deserve this award as much as I do.”
